Our Philosophy
Your Body Is a Good One.
Cultural messages about beauty, aging, gender, and body size often make us feel like our bodies are the problem and we need to “fix” them. We equate “goodness” with our outward appearance and feel shame when we can’t live up to these unrealistic standards of beauty and “health.”
Our philosophy is that your body is a good one as it is. Bodies change across the lifespan, and regardless of the phase of life you’re in, you deserve unconditional kindness, compassion, and respect.

My Body Journey
The relationship I had with my body most of my life is one that probably sounds familiar. I was active growing up, played sports, and didn’t think too much about dieting until my senior year of high school. A simple BMI calculation in health class showing I was overweight launched me into a 12-year journey of chronic dieting and body image struggles.
Body Building & A Baby
I took up weightlifting for the first time in my late 20s while working high-stress social work jobs. I quickly realized that lifting was incredibly effective at supporting mental health, managing stress levels, and sleeping better. I also noticed that dieting was negatively impacting my athletic performance and mental health, so I started to slowly let go of long-held food rules that were not serving me anymore.
At 30, I had my first baby and began appreciating my body in a whole new way. As many new mothers can attest to, I was also bombarded with postpartum weight loss messages. I was tired of being told my body wasn't good enough and made a conscious decision to change the relationship I had with my body. Talking with other new moms in my life made me realize I wasn't alone, and it inspired me to expand my knowledge base to include fitness. In 2018, I became a Certified Personal Trainer, so I could support folks to realize the benefits of weight training for mental health and wellbeing without all the toxic focus on weight loss.
Body Peace Therapy is Born!
Body Peace Therapy was born out of both my personal and professional experiences. For 15 years, I’ve supported people across the lifespan in both social work and fitness settings. What I’ve come to learn in this time is there’s an intergenerational thread that connects many of us: chronic dissatisfaction with our bodies and feeling like we’re not good enough.
I am committed to empowering people to approach their physical and mental health from a place of kindness, compassion, and worthiness.
